| This gallery is dedicated to my late friend Pat Newson. Pat was a guard at Cambridge which took him to many interesting places . He died in 1997 at the age of 51 after a hard fight against cancer. I miss him very much. As and when time permits I intend to publish our entire collection of slides (5,000+). The majority of the collection focuses on East Anglia over the last 35 years but other regions will get featured too. Much has changed in the last 20 plus years and most of the trains, signalboxes and people featured here are now no longer with us. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as we did taking them. |

In February 1985 BR moved several batches of Army vehicles to and from Carver Barracks (on the site of RAF Debeden) near Newport, Essex. They were potentially loaded at B.Stortford. Thanks to everyone who has responded with info so far. | The Cambridge Area. 1980s | (1002) |

 | | Working the 3H20 parcels train.
The 3H20 parcels train from Derby always loaded well and was booked at Peterborough for a Cambridge crew. This gallery was taken on the morning of 05-02-87 when there were 15 vans on.

 | | Class 86 Crew Training Trip to Broxbourne
When Cambridge was electrified, crew training began on class 86s with trips from Cambridge to Broxbourne. Here are photos from a day out with 86250 and an instructor/shunter called Katie on 13-03-87. Is she still on the railway?

 | | The March Area. 1980s.
Although the March area was a shadow of it's former self by the mid 80s, it was still a great place to be for interesting workings and variety.

 | | The Ely Area. 1980s.
In the 1980s, Ely had lots of interesting workings and a lovely collection of semaphore signals. Many happy hours were spent in the signalboxes until their end came in 1992.
For info on the Ely signalboxes go to www.signalbox.org/branches/dg/index.htm

 | | Whitemoor Yard Lament
This collection details the condition of Whitemoor Yard and Norwood Yards a year after the closure of the March to Spalding 'Joint Line' in November 1982. The quality isn't always great but the hopefully the subject matter will make up for it.

 | | Signalling Miscellany
This collection is a mixed bag of shots from all over the patch. It features anything associated with signalling.

 | | The Last Day of Double Track on Ely West Curve
10th April 1992, was the last day of double track on the Ely West Curve. The signalboxes closed later that night with control put on Cambridge PSB. I thought this collection was worthy of inclusion for this reason. It was taken from the back cab of the last daylight passenger train to use the West Curve from the March direction and that track was lifted soon after.
